  3. Nothing is known about this prophet except that his name means "Servant of Yahweh" or "Worshiper of Yahweh." When he prophesied is difficult to determine, with c. 845 B.C. and c. 585 B.C. as the best possibilities. If the former, Obadiah is the earliest of the writing prophets.
